town centre. It is situated next to the Alexandra Dock, close to
Sainsbury's supermarket, and is clearly sign-posted from all major

The Fishing Heritage Centre was opened in the early 1990's. It is
housed in a purpose-built building beside the Alexandra Dock.

The centre is open throughout the winter months, but will be
closed on Christmas Day, Boxing day and New Years Day.
From 31st October to Easter, the centre will be open:
Monday to Friday - 10.00am to 4.00pm (last admission 3.00pm)
Weekends - 11.00 to 3.00pm (last admission 2.00pm)
The Ross Tiger trawler is closed during the winter, but can
be requested for group bookings (weather permitting).

The Fishing Heritage Centre tells the story of local fishermen,
their boats and the waters they fished in. The dangers and
hardships of life at sea are explained, and there are realistic
reconstructions of back streets and alleys of 1950s Grimsby.

online tour of the museum's main areas.

An ex-Grimsby trawler, called the Ross Tiger, is berthed next to
the Fishing Heritage Centre.

Yes - you will be guided by a former trawlerman who will explain
the problems and hardships of life at sea, for up to three weeks,
in dangerous waters, cramped accommodation and often appalling
weather conditions.
Steep sides of the Ross Tiger make access difficult for visitors
who require assistance with walking. There is no access for
children under the age of 5.
However, the Ross Tiger is not open in winter, but can be
requested for group bookings (weather permitting).

using wheelchairs, prams or buggies. Facilities include ground
floor disabled toilets and lifts to all floors.
