Building Maintenance and Facilities Management are functions within the Balfour Beatty Asset Management service which deal primarily with general property management including planned and reactive maintenance work.
Building Maintenance
The Building Maintenance section provides a multi-disciplinary planned and reactive maintenance service across the council, covering non-housing structure and building services, and undertakes a range of refurbishment and minor alteration projects.
The Asbestos Team provides a complete professional and advisory service to the council on all asbestos issues.
The section also undertakes property condition assessments, identifying and recording condition survey data for all school and corporate buildings.
Facilities Management
The Facilities Management section provides direct support to the council's operational portfolios by managing land and buildings that the council occupies.
Our principal activities are:
- Managing the buildings occupied by the council, providing a safe, secure and suitable working environment in buildings which are legislatively compliant
- Managing property and land the council has declared as 'surplus', ie which used to be occupied by the council but is not currently in use
- Managing repairs and maintenance of council buildings
- Implementing relocation projects
Facilities Management is also responsible for the operational management of the council's public conveniences, RADAR key facilities and Changing Places facilities. The location of these can be found using the 'Find My Nearest' search facility on the Resident home page.
