The Port Health team for Grimsby and Immingham is part of the Public Protection Department and has a dedicated Port Health Office at Grimsby Docks.

The Port Health team for Grimsby and Immingham is part of the Public Protection Department and has a dedicated Port Health Office at Grimsby Docks.

Port Health service functions include:

  • Imported Food Control - Products of Animal Origin entering the EU via our Border Inspection post.
  • Imported Food Control - Foods not of animal origin - Approved DPE / DPI port for the sampling of high risk foodstuffs. (e.g nuts and dried fruit).  
  • Food Hygiene and Safety Inspections - Premises including Fish processors and other food premises based on the port estates.
  • Food Hygiene and Safety Inspections - Mobile Fish Vans.
  • Ship Inspections - The inspection of vessels to issue an international Ship Sanitation Certificate or control certificate.
  • Ships water sampling.
  • Enforcement of IUU legislation. (Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported Fishing).
  • Export certificates - Issuing of Export Health Certificates.
  • Organic imports - Certifying the importation of organic food and feed. 
  • Enforcement of International Catering waste legislation. 

     

The Ports of Grimsby & Immingham
Associated British Ports (ABP), the UK’s leading ports group, owns and operates the twin Ports of Grimsby & Immingham, situated on the South Humber Gateway on the Humber Estuary, which is the busiest shipping estuary in the UK with approximately 40,000 vessel movements per annum.

• Scheduled lift-on/lift-off container services to / from Rotterdam, Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Denmark and the Baltic states with feeder connections for deep-sea container lines.
• Riverside oil and chemical jetties to support local industry.
• The largest car trade port in the UK, with Toyota, Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Vauxhall, BMW, Land Rover, Jaguar, Saab and Bentley vehicles all passing through the twin ports
