The Environmental Permitting Regulations (England and Wales) 2010 enables local authorities to control pollution from certain types of industry (such as coal handlers, bulk cement & petrol filling stations) through applying for a permit.

These permits consist of specific conditions that the operators have to adhere to. Inspections are carried out at the installations to ensure that the permit conditions are not in breach. Processes are divided into 3 categories:

  • Part A1 processes: regulated by the Environment Agency (EA)
  • Part A2 processes: regulated by NELC
  • Part B processes: regulated by NELC

At the present time we regulate 71 installations across North East Lincolnshire:

  • 2 Part A2 processes
  • 69 Part B processes

The details of all processes regulated by NELCs are held on a Public Register. This is available for viewing during office hours and through prior arrangement. Please contact the Pollution Control Unit for further details.

Public register

North East Lincolnshire Council holds a public register of Part B and A2 installations regulated by the council. To access this information online, please visit the link provided at the bottom of this page - public register.

Process locations

The location of the regulated sites can be viewed on our interactive mapping.

Immingham Docks

Immingham Docks is regulated by four separate authorities, as a result of county boundaries and the installation type:

  • NELC
  • North Lincolnshire Council
  • Hull and Goole Port Health
  • Environment Agency
