Gambling Act 2005 Consultation - Statement of Principles
The Gambling Act 2005 requires the council to prepare a statement of principles that it applies in exercising its functions from, whilst having regard to the three licensing objectives which are:
- Preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, being associated with crime or disorder or being used to support crime.
- Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way.
- Protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling.
The council's statement or 'policy' was prepared in accordance with guidance published by the Gambling Commission and by LACORS (Local Authority Co-ordinator of Regulatory Services). It was subject to wide consultation with affected bodies, including those defined as Responsible Authorities, Interested Parties and businesses in the Borough. The statement of policy was published on 3 January 2007.
