Humber Chemical Focus
HCF is uniquely placed to act as a conduit for local chemical industry in its engagement with local communities through liaison panels, programmes such Children Challenging Industry as well as with national and European policy makers relating to new chemical regulations e.g. IPPC, COMAH, REACH.
Since its establishment in 1999, it has evolved into a network of over 70 organisations hosting over a dozen network collaborations and has attracted and deployed funding contributions of over £10 million into the cluster.

World Class Companies
Bluestar Fibres Company Ltd, Lyondell (formerly Millennium Chemicals), Huntsman Tioxide, Novartis, YARA (formerly Hydro Agri) , Synthomer, Cray Valley, Boc Gases, Air Products, Syngenta and Ciba Specialty Chemicals are all well established in North East Lincolnshire and have thrived in the area.
Excellent Support Service
As a recognised centre of excellence, North East Lincolnshire provides a comprehensive network of supply and service companies. Pipefitters, engineers, computer management, maintenance, testing and calibration are all skills available locally and specifically geared to the chemical industry. Hull University's Institute for Chemistry in Industry also provides technical support from training to mass spectrometer testing.
This level of support cannot be found in many parts of the UK. The ability to respond quickly means that vital repairs can be undertaken 365 days a year, with minimum down time and lost production.
Infrastructure

Millions of pounds of infrastructure has already been invested to serve the chemical industry.
In addition to the basic services, there is a wide range of special facilities, which include non-potable water, piped nitrogen, high pressure gas, piped acrylyl nitril, locally produced oxygen and sulphuric acid and direct access to oil refinery products.
