Excellent Infrastructure
In total, around 450 food and food support companies are located in North East Lincolnshire, producing processed chilled and frozen fish products, ready meals and vegetables.
North East Lincolnshire can boast 1.3 million cubic metres (45.9 million cubic feet) of public cold storage including a state of the art 530,000 cubic metre (18.72 million cubic feet) Regional Consolidation Centre capable of holding 30,000 pallets. The area is well situated for the demanding 'Just In Time' culture of the retail sector, both nationally and internationally.
The Food Advisory Service and Grimsby Institute of Food & Fisheries based within the area, exists to assist food companies with research, development and technology transfer, and also for companies looking to introduce new product lines.
Grimsby Fish Market
Managed by Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises, Grimsby Fish Market, was opened in 1995 and offers the most modern facility in the UK. The 8,000 square metre (86,000 sq.ft.) market hall, and a dedicated distribution centre offers buyers the chance to purchase a wide range of fish across the quay in pleasant, hygienic surroundings.
North Eastern Sea Fisheries Committee

A committee whose aim it is "To manage, regulate and develop and protect the fisheries within the area of the North Eastern Sea Fisheries Committee with a view to ensuring the sustainability of the marine environment both now and into the future"
Membership is made up of appointments from the Environment Agency, the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and local authorities including North East Lincolnshire.
