Local Business in North East Lincolnshire

Europe's Food Town

Grimsby has for over 15 years been marketed as Europe's Food Town, this reflects both the importance of the food sector to the local economy and the importance of Grimsby to the UK and European food processing sectors. Grimsby is world famous as a fishing port and is recognised as the main centre of the UK fish processing industry. This strength provided the basis for the diversification of the sector into all forms of frozen and chilled foods.  www.food-town.co.uk

Food Town Marketing Group

This body was established in late 1998 as a Local Authority/Industry partnership. Its role is to develop the Food Town campaign and to promote local food processing and food support sector companies using a mix of marketing initiatives including exhibition work and the use of the Internet.

Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises Ltd

The position of Grimsby as the main centre of the UK fish processing industry has been enhanced by the formation of Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises Ltd. GFDE is made up of all sectors of the industry and North East Lincolnshire Council with a remit to manage and promote Grimsby Fish Docks.

Its principle aim when formed was the renovation of the dock infrastructure and this took a massive step forward with the completion in 1996 of the new Grimsby Fish Market. This development cost £15 million and received substantial National and European funding.
