You will have to pay a fee to apply for planning permission (unless you are entitled to an exemption or concessionary fee). The fee is payable at the time you submit your application to us and your application cannot be validated until we have received the correct fee.
Planning application fees are set nationally and cannot be amended by ourselves. You can download the latest list of fees using the link on the right - "Planning Portal - What it costs".
The Government recently announced its intention to increase Planning Fees by 15%. The Parliamentary process has now been completed and the new Fees will come into force from Thursday 22nd November 2012.
Payment of Planning Applications
As from 26th April 2013, North East Lincolnshire Council are to close their three cash offices at Cleethorpes Civic Offices , Grimsby Municipal Offices and Immingham Civic Offices. Therefore payments for planning applications will no longer be accepted at these offices.
Payments can be made by:
- The Planning Portal, if you have submitted your application via the Planning Portal you can also pay using WorldPay on their website. The Planning Portal website provides a fee calculator to help you determine how much you need to pay which you may find useful;
- Credit/debit or visa cards, by telephoning North East Lincolnshire Council on 01472 313131, also quoting your name and the application site address of the planning application;
- Cheque, either by post or by hand, to Development Management Services at the address given in the contact details on the right of this page. If you are paying by cheque, please make it payable to “North East Lincolnshire Council” and submit with your planning application.
Please do not send cash through the post or by hand, as we cannot accept this method of payment
Note: Planning applications can still be hand delivered to the Customer Access Points listed below but receipts will not be provided for any payments until the application has been processed.

Extension/alterations to a single dwelling - £172
Building a new property - £385 per dwelling
Change of use - £385
Discharging planning conditions - £28 per request for Householder applications, otherwise £97 per request
Advertisements - £110 for signage on the premises or advance signs;
£385 for all other adverts
If you need to calculate the floor area this should be done to the external dimensions (that is, to the outside of all walls).
Once an application has been validated no refunds can be made, whether the application is approved, refused or withdrawn.
Any fees paid unnecessarily will be returned, once the application has been checked and validated.
