The scheme will offer financial help for small to medium size businesses who would like to create a new apprenticeship place and have not considered this option in the past. Eligible businesses will receive a grant of £2,500 which can be used to subsidise the apprentice’s pay.
The aim of the programme is to increase the take up by employers who are new to apprenticeships and to increase the number of apprenticeship opportunities for unemployed young people aged 16 – 18 years old. The target is to create 150 new apprenticeship places in the borough.
North East Lincolnshire Council delivers a programme of services, through the ‘Change programme’, which support businesses to develop and grow and helps unemployed residents find work. This scheme is part of the Change programme and will run until May 2012 or until all 150 places have been allocated.
