Standards Committee
As part of the overall modernisation agenda, Councils are required to appoint a Standards Committee. As its name implies, the Standards Committee monitors the standards of behaviour of officers and members of the Council and the Town and Parish Councils of the area against agreed codes of conduct.
The Council has adopted a Code of Conduct which applies to all elected and co-opted members of the Council. The Code sets out rules which must be complied with by all members. The rules are there to ensure members act properly and lawfully at all times. Town and Parish Councillors in the Borough are also required to observe a Code of Conduct.
The Standards Committee is also responsible for considering complaints that an elected member or a town/parish councillor has breached the code of conduct. Further information on the complaints process is available by clicking here... Local Assessment of Complaints.
