Update of Strategy for Older People

 
Questionnaire
 
This is not a publicity exercise – we really do need your help. We are about to update our Strategy for Older People. This will shape and direct services to older people for the next three years.
 
This involves setting priorities and making choices about millions of pounds worth of public money.
 
We need to know what local older people want so we can make the right choices. Please give us your views and tell us what progress has been made so far and what more needs to be done to ensure that the needs of older people are met.
 
Please answer the following questions:
 

COUNCIL PRIORITIES FOR ALL OLDER PEOPLE

1. How do you think the Council should spend its money when it comes to those services that directly affect older people?
Can you please state which of the following should be the most important or least important priorities by giving them a score of one to ten – ten is high importance; one is low importance. Please comment on how satisfied you are with the services below. Have certain services got better? What still needs improvement?
10 = High     1 = Low
a. Environment - (street lighting, pavements, litter clearance)
b. Housing - (working with landlords and housing associations to provide specialist housing for older people and to maintain standard)
c. Neighbourhood Improvement – (Crime reduction, reduction of anti-social behaviour, encouraging the communities to work together).
d. Leisure and Culture – (Leisure centres, supporting social groups, learning opportunities like day and evening classes).
e. Planning and Regeneration – (Re-designing the
f. Advice about your home – (Burglary prevention,
g. Financial – (Advice about council tax and state benefits).
h. Adult Social Care Services – (Helping older people in need of help to live in their own homes by providing services like home care, day centres and support for carers).
i. Preventing Elder Abuse – (Working with other agencies to prevent physical or financial abuse of older people).
j. Transport – (Ensuring older people can get about by providing, for example, bus services that meet their needs).
