The Mayor's Profile


Cllr. Colin Eastwell became The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of North East Lincolnshire on the 15th May 2008 at the Council's Mayor Making Ceremony.  Madam Mayoress, Mrs Hilda Burns, will accompany the Mayor on various functions.  The Mayor said 'Hilda and I are looking forward to an exciting and fulfilling year representing the Borough and it's Citizens and I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone for their good wishes and their continued support'.

The Mayor has chosen to support the following charities:

Project for Adult Beds St. Andrew's Hospice, N.S.P.C.C., St. Dunstan's and The Charity Arm Diana Princess of Wales Hospital Grimsby.


The Mayor of the Borough of North East Lincolnshire is only too happy to attend local events and those further afield, whether they be coffee mornings, official opening ceremonies or award presentation, if the organisers feel that the presence of the Mayor could raise the profile of their event, and if the date is free in the civic diary the Mayor will be only too happy to attend.  The Mayor of North East Lincolnshire is the first citizen of the Borough and part of their role is to promote North East Lincolnshire.

The Mayor was educated at St. John's Church School and then progressed onto the Technical School.  The Mayor's career started at J.S. Doig (GY) Shipbuilders Ltd., where he gained a Shipwright Apprentice, then the Royal Engineers Colours & Reserve, and finally became Self Employed where he supplied Floor & Window Furnishings to the General Public.  The Mayor retired in 1999.

The Mayor's interests and hobbies are Cricket, Grimsby Town F.C., Amateur Winemaker, Gardening, Reading and most sports.

Political Career
Cllr Eastwell was firstly elected in 1972 - 1992 for the then Liberal Party which in 1993 became a founder member of the Liberal Democrats Party.  Cllr Eastwell covers the Croft Baker Ward and is on the following Committee Membership Boards:
Committees: Planning, Licensing, and Audit.
Scrutiny Panels: Housing, Regeneration, Tourism, Overview & Scrutiny
Outside Body Representation: Humberside Fire & Rescue Service, Town & Parish Committee, N.E. Lindsey Drainage Committee, N.E. Lincolnshire Sports Association and Tourism Forum Chairman.
