The Core Strategy document is the key Development Plan Document for the Borough outlining the Council's overall approach to development. It will cover a period to 2027, but will be reviewed on a regular basis.

The Core Strategy sets out the long term spatial vision and objectives for the Borough and the strategic planning policies to deliver that vision. The North East Lincolnshire Core Strategy will also include a suite of Development Management policies aimed at addressing identified Core Strategy issues.

The Core Strategy does not set out individual land allocation's for specific purposes this will be covered in the Allocations Development Plan Document.

Please note

Following the publication of the National Planning Policy Framework (April 2012) (NPPF) the Council is reviewing the preparation of the Local Development Framework. The preparation of the Core Strategy has been put on hold until a decision is made as to how to proceed in the light of the NPPF. A report has been prepared and will be presented to Cabinet in June 2012.

This page will be updated once the decision has been made.

Preparation

During the preparation of the Core Strategy Development Plan Document it has undergone several consultation stages. An overview of the progress of the document is given in the table below. The table also gives an indication of where the Council is now, what stages are still to be completed and the anticipated adoption date of the Core Strategy. Further information about the preparation of the Core Strategy can be found in the Local Development Scheme.

The dates set out in the table below are taken from the current Local Development Scheme (2008) due to the delays in publishing the Core Strategy some of these have now passed. In order to give clarity to the preparation of the Core Strategy an indicative timetable has been included as of March 2012 (see italics). A revised Local Development Scheme (2012) is currently being prepared and these indicative dates will be updated once the revised Local Development Scheme (2012) is brought into effect.

This site will be updated once greater clarity can be provided on the forward timescales.
