Under the Equality Act 2010, North East Lincolnshire Council has a duty to publish information to demonstrate that it has due regard to the need to:
- Eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct that is prohibited by or under the Act
- Advance equality of opportunity between persons who share a relevant protected characteristic and persons who do not share it
- Foster good relations between persons who share a relevant protected characteristic and persons who do not share it.
This Council must publish this information by 31 January 2012 and then review and update it annually.
We will publish a range of equality data and information, to demonstrate how we are meeting the Public Sector Equality Duty. We will also publish equality objectives from April 2012.
The council plan is the council's overarching business plan and this is supported by business plans for each of the council's directorates and the service area that sit within each Directorate. The equality objectives will be set as part of its business planning process and will ensure that we work with local individuals and groups to identify and address different needs and aspirations.
We will carry out equality analysis when business planning, to generate a greater insight and understanding of the effects of decisions on groups with protected characteristics and will actively engage in a dialogue with representative groups to shape and inform our decision making. This will help us consider if there are any unintended consequences for some groups and if the policy, project or service delivery option will be fully effective for all target groups.
Updated information about equalities issues for North East Lincolnshire will be published on this page as it becomes available, however we will commit to update on a quarterly basis starting 1st April 2012.
Relevant equality information will be listed under related content and downloads, highlighted to the right of this page.
