North East Lincolnshire Council is planning to develop an additional Children's Centre; this time, for communities in Humberston and New Waltham.

Communities in Healing and Waltham will also benefit from Children's Centre Outreach facilities from the new Immingham and Scartho centres. In addition to this, it has recently been announced that a third outreach facility, linked to the Broadway Children's Centre, will be established to serve the Laceby community.

Public consultation will take place from April 21 until May 23 about the location of the new facilities and which specific services will be provided from each site.  More than £400,000 has already been allocated to this phase of the project.

The new centre and outreach facilities will mean that by 2009 all families in North East Lincolnshire will have access to Children's Centre services.

For those who would like to know more, there are four consultation events being held at three different venues throughout April. Healing Methodist Church Hall on April 28, Leas Infant School on April 29, Humberston School on April 30 and Laceby Library on May 12. All consultations will take place between 7.15 and 8.45pm.

The Borough's 10 Children's Centres have already made a big difference to families with children under five years by supporting the Government's commitment to

  • the best start in life for every child
  • better opportunities for parents
  • affordable, good quality childcare and
  • stronger and safer communities.

The 10 centres that are currently operating and delivering integrated services are:

  • Broadway Children's Centre
  • Central Children's Centre
  • Cleethorpes Children's Centre
  • East Marsh Children's Centre
  • Immingham Children's Centre
  • Nunsthorpe and Bradley Park Children's Centre
  • Park Children's Centre
  • Queensway Children's Centre
  • Scartho Children's Centre
  • West Marsh Children's Centre

Two other Children's Centres are due to be designated shortly.

  • Riverside Children's Centre (Based at Yarborough Primary School)
  • Highgate Children's Centre (Based at Thrunscoe Primary School)
