The aim of this booklet is to make it as easy as possible for parents/carers to understand the procedures involved. The booklet goes into a lot of detail to explain the rules and procedures the Council has to follow to ensure that the system works as fairly as possible.
Most parents/carers prefer their children to go the local catchment school. Sometimes, however, parents prefer a school outside their own catchment area, but may find that there are no places available. These web pages contain a summary of the information parents/carers need to understand about the admission policies and appeal process.
