Co-ordinated Admission Arrangements of Pupils from Primary to Secondary School
Starting secondary school is one of the most important events in any child's life. At this time Parents/carers are naturally concerned to do the best for their children, but many feel uncertain about what to do. To assist you with this process, we publish a a booklet called Your New School 2009-2010 (pdf) (3746 KB).
The aim of this booklet is to make it as easy as possible for parents to understand the procedures involved. The booklets go into a lot of detail to explain the rules and procedures the Council has to follow to ensure that the system works as fairly as possible.
(In order to read pdf files you need the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. This is a free download from the internet and can be accessed from our Downloads page.)
In total, there will be eleven secondary schools from September 2008, please click here for a list of schools in North East Lincolnshire.
Applications for admissions into schools at normal times of admission or transfer are submitted on our Common Application Form - Secondary which is only available at certain times of the year and will be an online form from September 2008. For casual admission or transfer at other times there is the Casual Application/Transfer Form (Secondary). Most parents prefer their children to go the local catchment school. Sometimes, however, parents prefer a school outside their own catchment area, but may find that there are no places available. These webpages contain a summary of the information parents need to understand about the admissions policies, types of school available and the appeals process.
As the process of choosing a secondary school is very important we recommend that you take time to read these webpages and guidebook.
