Welcome to the Chameleon Project website.
Due to the nature of the project the site is on-going as the projects in schools progress - we hope you will enjoy your visit and return to see progression of projects.
North East Lincolnshire Council is committed to improving creativity in its schools and, in 2005, welcomed the opportunity to be involved in this innovative project.
Chameleon follows Creative Partnerships initiatives around the country, working specifically towards the excellence and enjoyment agenda through all key stages, including foundation. (Please see Creative Partnerships for more inforrmation about this initiative.)

Our project involves 15 schools in North East Lincolnshire. Two of these were involved in Phase One and the others applied to take part - all schools in North East Lincolnshire were eligible.
Initial meetings were held with the schools to examine areas they felt could be developed through the project - we used the School Improvement Plan as a starting point.
Once the developmental areas had been identified, we went through a process of finding Creative Practitioners who could fulfill the project briefs and develop relationships with the schools. This is an essential part of the Creative Partnerships ethos - and perhaps the fundamental difference between a Creative Partnerships project and an Artist in School project. In the latter the work of the artist enhances the work of the teacher and could be seen as an 'add-on' to the curriculum but in a Creative Partnership, where the creative professional and school staff work together, the work is embedded in the school and there is change in how the curriculum is delivered.
The projects commenced in February 2008. Once the local evaluation has happened we will be producing a report - please keep an eye on the Evaluation page to see this.
On 9th July 2008 we will be having a celebration conference when all the schools will be exhibiting - please see the conference page for more information on this - we'd like to see you there!
