Information

The principle source of information about the historic environment of North East Lincolnshire is the Sites and Monuments Record (SMR) or Historic Environment Record (HER). This is a computerised inventory of known archaeological sites, historic buildings, other listed and locally listed buildings, monuments and findspots within North East Lincolnshire.

As well as sites recorded on the SMR/HER some archaeological site in NEL are regarded as being of national significance.  These are Scheduled Ancient Monuments (SAMs).
