Pest Control Service:

The council ceased to run a pest control service in 2004. Though members of the public who see rats or mice on open land can report this.

Should their own property or land require treatment then the yellow pages (opens new browser) and other local directories are a useful source of firms listed under Pest and Vermin Control.

Councillor Keith Brookes, Leader of the council, said: "Although it is with regret that the council can no longer afford to provide this service, there are well established local firms providing pest control, alongside the larger national companies. In many cases the private companies offer their services at a lower price than the council."
