The Environmental Health Service is responsible for protecting the Health and Safety and Welfare of residents, workers and visitors to the area in a variety of ways. We are responsible for:

Pollution Control - including noise, air, water, odours and dust pollution as well as contaminated land.
Food Safety - including hygiene standards in food premises and contamination or deterioration in food products.
Health and Safety Enforcement - for those premises where the Health and Safety Executive are not responsible.
Port Health - including imported food inspection and conditions on board ships.
Infectious Diseases - includes investigating infectious disease outbreaks.
Licensing - including public entertainment, cinema's, sex shops, street collections, street trading, hackney carriages, private hire vehicles and many others.
Animal Welfare - this section covers primarily stray dogs and the pest control service.
