Urban Renaissance - The Grimsby Strategic Framework Plan
Yorkshire Forward, the Regional Development Agency for North East Lincolnshire is pursuing a pioneering initiative called the 'Urban Renaissance Programme'. North East Lincolnshire, as a whole was chosen along with a number of other towns in the region to pursue the initiative. The initiative seeks to support the social and economic regeneration of the towns, promoting and applying the principles of good urban design.
The Strategic Framework Plan has been developed from consultation, analysis, ideas and concept work undertaken during 2002 as part of the initial renaissance project. The conclusions of this earlier work, which included discussions with well over 2000 people as part of workshop, meetings and exhibition's are now embodied in the North East Lincolnshire Council Community Strategy.
The Grimsby Strategic Framework Plan focuses upon the centre of Grimsby. It adopts no rigid boundary and offers no' blueprint' for future development decisions. What it does do is establish a framework upon which to proceed to deliver quality new development. It identifies key issues to be addressed, establishes guiding principles to promote good design and co-ordinates action to achieve quality developments.
In establishing the Strategic Framework Plan as Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG the Council is providing the basis within the planning arena to pursue quality developments. The SFP will also provide the basis for co-ordinating initiatives across a broad range of public and private services both at the local and sub-regional level. It will also be part of an evolving process supplementing and complementing actions within the Community Strategy. The adoption of the plan as SPG establishes a firm commitment to an urban renaissance for North East Lincolnshire.
The Grimsby Strategic Framework Plan, this is a large document and has therefore being divided into sections, even so these are large files and will take some time to download.
