Side Waste Policy

Central Government set increasingly difficult targets for increasing recycling and reducing the amount of waste being generated and sent to landfill.

In order to meet these targets NELC have introduced a number of systems such as kerbside recycling collections and a Side Waste Policy.

Whether a household is entitled to produce side waste  or not is dependant on the recycling facillities offered to that peoperty.

Side Waste Allowed

If your property has a Triple Box collection Service/ Mini site and NO Garden Waste collection service you are entitled to 1 Sack of side Waste in addition to your refuse bin.

No Side Waste Allowed

If your property has a Triple Box Collection Service/Mini Site and a Garden Waste Collection service then you are not entitled to produce any side waste.

Please note that if you present side waste and you are not entitled to do so, the waste will not be collected. Residents can either wait for the next collection or use one of our CRC sites to dispose of additional waste and recycling.
