Trees and Woodlands.
The Council is committed to a greener environment with the planting of:
- street trees,
- "gate ways" (e.g. planting roundabouts to welcome visitors to our urban areas), and woodlands.
Our Targets:
- Increase the percentage of residents satisfied with the level of service.
- Process and respond to all Notifications to carry out works to trees in a Conservation Area within the allowed 6 weeks.
- Process and respond to all Applications to carry out work to trees protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) within the allowed 8 week period.
- Determine any effect on trees within the site and on adjacent land in view of any Planning Application proposal within the allotted 2 week period. Provide comments and advice to the relevant Planning Officer in accordance with the findings. Negotiate with the developer over mitigating changes or alterations to the plans to reduce / remove any adverse impact on the trees.
- Build up a database of all Council trees linked to a GIS mapping system.
- Improve the performance rating of the Environmental Street Scene Best Value rating.
- Maintain the Council owned trees in a safe and sustainable fashion
