A180 works reprogrammed in Grimsby – long contraflow in place from tonight

4:31 pm, Tuesday, 9th June 2026 - 4 hours ago

General

The works to the A180 between Lockhill Roundabout and Westgate Roundabout are going well. As reported earlier, as part of the works the whole stretch of road is being resurfaced, a carriageway at a time. In order to do the resurfacing works, the contraflow currently in place needs to be extended.

Initially planned for early July, CR Reynolds have re-programmed the works and are introducing a longer contraflow tonight (Tuesday 9 June), for resurfacing the westbound carriageway in full. The re-programming is to give them more time to complete the design for the work to the expansion joints.

The longer contraflow will be in place until Monday 22 June, when it will reduce back to the short contraflow for the remainder of the westbound works.

Once those are complete, the contraflow will be switched to the opposite carriageway at the start of July.

There are likely to be delays during core commuting hours in this stretch of road and the approaches from Cleethorpe Road, the A180 Eastbound and Victoria Street North in Grimsby. The Council asks that people try to plan their journeys outside core commuting hours, or avoid the area if possible.
