We regret that the Searchroom of the Archives will be closed to the public until the end of December 2008. This decision has been taken because of the long-term illness of both staff. We hope that it will be possible to restore normal opening hours in the New Year.
News will be posted on this site. Enquiries by post, email and telephone (01472-323585) will continue to be answered as quickly as possible, but we recommend that members of the public with historical enquiries contact us by letter or email, not by telephone.
Many genealogical sources for the area remain available at the Lincolnshire Archives in Lincoln, and via Grimsby Central Library.
The North East Lincolnshire Archives in Grimsby Town Hall collects, preserves and makes available to the public the historic records of North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.
The Archives holds more than 2,500 metres of shelving filled with 12,000 boxes of original documents dating from the 13th century to the present. The documents contain information about most places in the area, and cover a wide range of subjects.
Archives are a unique, irreplaceable and valuable resource.
They provide information about the past, and they may also contain evidence of legal rights.
If you are interested in family history, village history, house history, school history, graduate or post-graduate research, or legal rights and titles, then the Archives may be able to help you.
