Return to Cleethorpes Local Nature Reserve
On the rising tide you will see the birds following the tide in, feeding on the invertebrates as they rise to the surface. The dense flocks are usually Knot and you will see them flying over the salt marshes with the flock turning as one. In the picture there is a mixture of birds leaving the sand bank as if startled. There are Knot (Calididris canutus) Oyster Catcher (Haematopus ostralegus) and Ringed Plover (Charadrius hiaticula).
