All Saints' Church, Waltham

On the main B1203 Grimsby to Binbrook road, on the left in the village centre.

All Saint's is a 13th century medieval church, throughly restored by the Victorians.  One of its rectors, Richard Baynes, was heavily implicated in the murder of the Elizabethan playwright Christopher Marlowe.  The building contains some brasses (including that of the Lord Chancellor, John of Waltham, in the reign of Richard II).  On the choir screen is a carved wooden mouse, the 'signature' of Robert Thompson's workshop.

Open every day.
