Barnoldby Le Beck
there's more than just countryside!
The following information has been compiled by Matthew Humberston School with the aid of North East Lincolnshire Council.
The village and parish of Barnoldby Le Beck features an obelisk to be found opposite St Helen's Church. The obelisk was erected in memory of William Smith, who fell from his horse whilst serving as a huntsman to the Earl of Yarborough. He died on 11th April, 1845.
The church is a neat, stone building that consists of a nave and a square embattled tower containing three bells. These bells are about four hundred years old, although the church was built around the 16th century. The tower was rebuilt in 1901 at a cost of around one thousand pounds. Within the church there is a coat of arms, which portrays a late Georgian painting depicting three lions and a unicorn.
