Hatcliffe
there's more than just countryside!
The following information has been compiled by Matthew Humberston School with the aid of North East Lincolnshire Council.
A small picturesque village containing three main places of interest to visit. St Mary's Church dates back as early as the 13th century and contains memorial stones dedicated to the Hatcliffe family dating back to 1525. The post office is a large, white building in the centre of the village. The wooden plaque by the front door has VR carved onto it signifying the influence of Queen Victoria.
Note the small stream flowing past the Post Office that has small stone bridges crossing it at regular intervals, to help provide access to local amenities.
Also of interest is the watermill, hidden away at Waterdell, near Barton Street, but still situated in the parish. Owned by the Bacon family, it is hoped that it will preserve for years to come.
