Havelock The Dane
A Legend of Old Grimsby and Lincoln
Based on ancient British legend and a classic medieval romance. Charles Whistler's epic novel has the power to take one on an inner quest, and journey back in time to the sixth century.
In an act of great heroism, Grim fled to England saving the infant Havelok, sole heir to the throne of Denmark. Surviving Viking raid and storm in the North Sea crossing, Grim built a home form the wreckage of his ship, around which a town grew, there to live the life of a fisherman. At Lincoln we meet fortune's bride for Havelok, the fair, young princess Goldborough. Their union would result in valiant battles to reclaim their rightful crowns, thus creating powerful sovereignty, peace and union between two realms.
By Charles W Whistler, MRCS, with illustrations by W. H. Margetson, cover design by R. E. Naylor, and foreword by K. G. Gracie. North East Lincolnshire Council also would like to acknowledge the contribution made by the Grim & Havelock Association to the Grimsby 800 Celebrations.
