Market Place

Ben Chapman the second, was the first Cleethorpes businessman to make Cleethorpes Market Place what it is today. He bought land around Short Street and by 1846 he became one of the largest landowners in Cleethorpes.

The original buildings date from 1801. Information shows that in 1900 the now 'Steels Restaurant ' was a grocery shop that Mr Steel bought in 1946 and turned it into a restaurant. The building still has the original structure.

Weekly markets are still held in the Market Place on a Wednesday and Summer Saturdays where many bargains can be found.
