How do I register to use NetLibrary?
You need to create a free account in your local library and will need a user name and password. Once you have registered collect your three free download tickets from the library staff. You will need to show your library card.
How do I find the book I want?
The NetLibrary site has a search key which uses author/title/keyword or you can click on the In Our Collection tab and select List All Resources to scroll through all available titles.
How do I download an eAudiobook to my computer?
You cannot download on to computers in the library but when back at home click on Download this eAudiobook. You can select CD or Radio Quality. Only CD quality can be transferred to a portable media device. With Broadband a 9 hour book takes about 10 minutes to download CD quality or 4 minutes for radio quality. With dial-up a 12 hour book takes about 8 hours to download to CD quality or half an hour for radio. After selecting the quality you will then be asked for a ticket number – use the one given to you at the library or use your credit card to buy one, (£1.00 each).
How can I transfer the download to my MP3 player?
Your MP3 player must be compatible and support DRM protected WMA files. iPods are not compatible. Please check the list of compatible players.
The Library Service is unable to offer assistance with downloading but it is fairly straight forward.
How long do I have the eAudiobook?
You can have the book for 21 days when the file will ‘time out'. It will be still be on your computer or portable device but it will not be playable. You can renew the eAudiobook before the time out period by logging onto the NetLibrary web site and downloading a new license.
How many eAudiobooks can have?
You can have up to 10 eAudiobooks at a time. If you copy a NetLibrary eAudiobook to a CD it will not play. This is because of the licensing and digital rights management.
What Players do I need to listen to an eAudio book?
Your MP3 player must be compatible and support DRM protected WMA files. iPods are not compatible. Players that are known to work are Rio, Creative and Archos.
