Class Visits to your Local Library –Year 5/ Year 6
Example of topics that could be covered;
Aim: Explain the variety of information available for projects
The visit to include: Explanation on how to find information from books, encyclopaedias and Internet. The variety of books available for loan and reference.
Aim: To include a tour of the library service
The visit to include: A tour around the library highlighting areas of library resources which the pupils will find useful in their secondary school.
All visits will include some time for independent reading: Time for the pupils to browse in the library, and select books of their choice to look at. The librarian will help the pupils make their selection.

A Children's Librarian will contact you to confirm arrangements and send you an outline of the visit.
If your school is unable to arrange a visit to a local library, it may be possible for a librarian to visit your school.
