European Information
There is a variety of information relating to European initiatives including information relating to conducting business in Europe and what changes in Europe will mean to UK residents and businesses.

Legal Texts

Legal texts such as the 'Public and General Acts', 'Statutory Instruments', 'Forms and Precedents', 'Halsburys Law of England' and the 'All England Law Reports' are in stock at the Library.

The Citizens Advice Notes Services (CANS) provides a digest of social legislation which is compiled from authoritative sources. As such it offers a user-friendly approach to many legal issues.

The Library has a variety of books relating to the theory and practice of management skills. Areas covered include Accounting and Financial planning, Management and marketing.

Ordnance Survey Maps
-
Ordnance Survey maps are available for the local area from 1880 to the present day. The most recent maps of the former Humberside area are available on computer.
Copyright restricts the photocopying of maps less than 50 years old to one A4 copy per map.

Landranger Series

A complete set of the OS Landrangers series is also available.

Road and Street maps
-
Road and street maps are available for consultation for the majority of UK towns and cities. Similar maps are also available for some foreign countries.
The main sources available for market analysis are:

Statistics
-
Ranging from Government publications produced by the office for National Statistics and other bodies to yearbooks for countries and organisations.

Company REFs, a two volume work gives a huge range of statistical information for all UK quoted companies. This includes price-earnings ratios and earnings per share.

Census Data

The 1991 census can provide detailed information about demographics in specific areas of the UK. This data is available on a CD Rom which can be manipulated im many ways to provide accurate information. The results of the census are also available in book format.

At a local level, the library has several binders of information relating to the census in North East Lincolnshire, broken down to ward level. These are updated by information provided by the council on the economics of the area.

Daily Newspapers

A broad range of daily newspapers, both national and local are taken at the Library. Back issues are available for varying ranging from one month to varying periods, e.g. The Grimsby Evening Telegraph from 1897.

Periodicals

A variety of periodicals are subscribed to and cover areas such as management, business and industry, science and public interest.

British Standards
-
The full set of British Standards is available to view on CD Rom. This will enable users to access the standard which they require and also to discover any amendments and other documents which relate to the topic in hand.
Copying is allowed from the standards although this is limited by copyright to 10 per cent of any one standard.
Management guides to the implementation of quality standards BS5750 and ISO 9000 are also available for reference use.

The Contracts Handbook

This details over five thousand contracts let by local authorities across the UK. The Handbook is published twice a year.
Train, coach, air and local bus timetables are available online.
