The re-launch of Positive Futures

North East Lincolnshire Council's Positive Futures team held an open day at Hereford Technology School on Friday 25th August 2006.

The day was a chance for people who are looking to get involved in Positive Futures to have an insight into what the project is all about and the changes that are set to take place in the programme.

Heidi Bradley, Positive Futures Officer for North East Lincolnshire Council, arranged the day and was on hand to offer advice and guidance on any issues arising.  Display boards were set up for the parents, children and referrers to view and a lot of information was on hand for all who attended.

This day was a chance to highlight the changes that are being made to Positive Futures, these changes are set to include setting up local centres across North East Lincolnshire for activities rather than having them all at the same venue, this will make the activities more accessible for people and will encourage the young people to become involved on a regular basis.

Another change set to be implemented is the involvement of family members in the project.  The Positive Futures project is looking to engage not only with the young people but their families too, the activities will give families the opportunity to play together and it is hoped this will bring families closer together and encourage them to take part in similar activities at home,, promoting a healthy lifestyle and family cohesion.

The Positive Futures project is also offering a time out session for parents and carers, a time where they can come along and let off some steam through sporting activities, there is no fitness requirement it is simply an opportunity to relieve your stresses and socialise with people who are in similar situations.

Overall the day was a success, the feedback at the end of the day was positive the young people enjoyed themselves and were satisfied with what was on offer.
