Grants for Talented Athletes
Sports Aid ( Yorkshire and Humberside)
Funding: SportsAid Yorkshire & Humberside Grants range between £150 -
£500 and can be applied for on an annual basis.
Funder: SportsAid is a registered charity and raises all money independently which goes directly to the individual.
Aim:
SportsAid Yorkshire & Humberside supported over 300 athletes in 2004/05. They aim to encourage sports people to reach a top-level and more importantly to keep them in sport at a decisive time of their lives. It is aimed at talented sports people who are of international competition standard or have the potential to reach this level.
Who can apply?
To be eligible for a Sports Aid Yorkshire & Humberside
Grants, applicants must:
• Have a permanent home address in the Yorkshire & Humberside region
• Be between 12 and 16 years old
• Special cases can be put forward by NGBs for athletes between 16 and 18.
• For disabled disciplines, there is no age restriction.
Deadline:
Two deadline windows are in place for applicants. The first window will be by October each year, with the second window by February. Applications are received via Governing Body contacts.

Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS)
Funding:
TASS Bursaries (£1,000) are generally awarded to athletes who are 16-19 years of age (extended to 35 years for disability athletes) and are either in Further Education or are alternatively in work. TASS Scholarships (£3,000) are generally awarded to athletes who are 18-25 years of age (extended to 35 years for disability athletes) and are studying in Higher Education in England.
Funder:
Athletes do not directly receive this funding financially, but access sporting services through educational institute delivery of their National governing Body.
Aim: The TASS programme has been created to help hundreds to fulfil their sporting potential by maintaining a sensible balance between academic life or employment whilst training and competing as a performance athlete.
Who can apply?
Athletes must reside at an English address or be studying at an English Educational Institute. Athletes must also hold a G.B. passport and be eligible to compete in their sport for Great Britain to apply.
Deadline: Yearly review, from 1st August- 31st July.
