Aim:
The Active Clubs Association is a new scheme developed by North East Lincolnshire Council Sports Development Unit. It aims to set standards for local clubs to meet which in turn lead to better quality sports provision for all in the community.

Awards For All
Funding: £500 - £10000
Funder: National Lottery funding
Aim: It funds projects that enable people to take part in sport and community activities, as well as projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community. The scheme primarily provides revenue for example to fund coaching or training courses, publicity materials, equipment, start up costs and volunteer expenses. No partnership funding is required.
Who can apply?
Non-profit organisations, schools, town councils, and health bodies that can use the grant within a year are open to apply. Independent or fee-paying schools are not eligible to apply.
Other points to consider:
• Grants cannot be given for goods or services that you buy or receive before you receive the award letter.
• Only one application can be made at one time and a group may only receive a maximum of £5,000 in a 12 month period
• Projects in schools must not take place in school hours except lunchtime.
• School applications are also expected to demonstrate an external focus i.e. working in partnership with a local community club
• Make sure you read all the guidance notes for your particular region
• Groups cannot be funded for core or on going activities, i.e. projects must show how they will help the group to develop and attract more participants.
Deadline: Applicants and applications are assessed and contacted if they are successful. It is an ongoing process throughout the year.

Football Foundation
Funding: Grants ranging from £100 to £1m.
Funder: The Football Foundation
Aim:
The trust provides financial help for football at all levels, from national stadia and FA Premier League clubs down to grass-roots development. The foundation has many grant schemes.
Who can apply?
Clubs & Schools are eligible to apply. Clubs can apply for a boys and girls team at once if they have not applied before, or clubs can apply for a boy's team if they have previously applied for a girl's team or vice-versa.

Local Network Fund for Children and Young People
Funding: Grants are between £250 - £7,000 for capital and project funding.
Funder: Government funding (DfES)
Aim: The aim is to help disadvantaged children and young people achieve their full potential, and for groups providing local solutions to poverty and social exclusion affecting 0-19 year olds.
Who can apply?
Non statutory organisations/groups, who are small hard to reach groups in disadvantaged areas. An independent referee is required and if the funding is rewarded then a Child Protection Policy is needed. Small local community and voluntary groups can apply for grants under any of the following four themes:
• Projects and Aspirations
• Economic Disadvantage
• Isolation and access
• Children's voices

Sports Match
Funding:
For each £1 paid by the business sponsor to the organising body. Sports Match can match a minimum sponsorship of £1000 (£500 for schools) up to a maximum of £50,000. For any new project or activity.
Funder: Funded in England by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) through Sport England
Aim:
It has been designed to improve the quality and quantity of the sponsorship which grass-roots sport receives in Great Britain. Through the scheme, every pound of 'new' money put forward by a business sponsor can be matched. A Sports Match award can allow a sponsor to enjoy all the commercial benefits of a sponsorship, whilst contributing only half the cost.

Sport Relief
Funding: Applications up to £5,000
Funder: Charity - Red Nose Day.
Aim: The UK grants programme aims to tackle poverty and promote social justice by helping people make lasting, positive changes in their lives and their communities.
Who can apply?
Grants are given to voluntary organisations and self-help groups in the UK. Particular attention is given to parts of the UK which often miss out on funding, especially towns and cities outside London, and rural areas. Applications are welcomed from small community projects and larger organisations.
Only consider applications under the following headings:
• Supporting Young People
• Fighting for Justice
• Domestic Abuse
• Refugees and Asylum Seekers
• Local Communities Working for Change

Young People's Fund
Funding:
Grants to individuals are between £250 and £5,000. Grants to Voluntary and Community Organisation are between £5,000 and £150,000 over a three-year period. Grants to fund national projects are expected to be around 31 million over a three year period.
Funder: Big Lottery Fund
Aim:
The fund aims to support projects that will improve local communities and offer more opportunities to young people. The fund wants young people to come up with ideas for projects and to be involved in making them happen, in particular those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The criteria for success is based on the following five outcomes; Being Healthy, Staying Safe, Enjoying & Achieving, Making a positive contribution and Economic well being.
Who can apply?
Three types of grant under the Young People's Fund:
• Grants to individuals for young people aged between 11 to 25
• Grants to voluntary and community organisations for young people aged between 11 -18 and disadvantaged young people up to the age of 25.
• Grants to fund national projects for young people aged between 11 - 18 and disadvantaged young people up to the age of 25
Deadline:
Grants to individuals - applications will be available from late summer 2005. Grants to Voluntary and Community Organisations - on receipt of outline proposal you would then be contacted within 10 days to inform whether you might get a grant and if so send an application form to you. Committees meet every 6 weeks in each region, so turn around times are 3 monthly and the programme is rolling - you can apply at any time. The programme is due to run until the end of October 2006. Grants to fund national projects - the second round for applications will be delivered later in 2005.

Young Roots
Funding:
Grants of between £5,000 and £25,000 are available for projects which involve young people in the heritage of the UK.
Funder:
Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and run with The National Youth Agency
Aim: Projects could include such activities as:
• Researching lost customs and traditions of the community and presenting them through photography and drama;
• Increasing awareness of the natural heritage through practical conservation; or
• Recording and celebrating the histories of people from different communities in the area.
Examples of Heritage are:
• Cultural and local tradition
• Social history
• Countryside, parks and gardens.
Who can apply?
The scheme is aimed at organisations that already work with young people.
To be eligible for a grant under the Young Roots scheme, your project must;
• Involve young people aged between 13 and 21
• Relate to the varied heritage of the UK
• Be delivered through partnerships
• Increase opportunities for young people to learn about heritage; and
• Promote involvement in heritage and a greater appreciation of the value of heritage for a wide range of young people.

Heartwell
Heartwell is a local partnership between Health Organisations, Local Councils, Voluntary and Community groups, set up to address the issues of heart disease.
Small grants are available to support projects that aim to promote heart health by encouraging and assisting groups to work on issues that can contribute to heart disease. The Sports Development Unit has organised a number of sporting competitions and initiatives aimed at addressing the issues of heart health with specific reference to smoking.
