Football Festival for Disabled People
The council's sports development unit, in partnership with West Marsh Community Centre, are developing football opportunities for disabled people.
A football festival for disabled people of all ages and disabilities has been organised for this Saturday (March 19) at West Marsh Community Centre, in Armstrong Street, Grimsby.
The event is being run by qualified football coaches from the West Marsh Junior Football Club and will run from 9.30am to 4pm.
After Easter, a weekly coaching session will be organised for people with disabilities at West Marsh Community Centre, and there will be a new disability section of West Marsh Junior FC established from these coaching sessions, with the hope of playing matches against other teams.
Councillor Geoff Lowis, portfolio holder for regeneration, said: "The festival is a come and try it day for anyone with an interest in football and will provide fun coaching opportunities as well as providing individuals with the long term opportunity of joining a team."
For further details about the festival or for further information about the weekly coaching sessions, contact Nicola Massingham, active communities officer, on 01472 323347.
