Girls Football is Given Kick Start in Healing
Healing Hotspurs Football Club are looking to establish a girls section to compliment their already thriving boys teams.
The club is being supported by the sports development unit of North East Lincolnshire Council, which is running a six week kick start course at the club, funded through the Active Sports Programme.
The course will run for six weeks from this Saturday (February 19) until Saturday (March 26), from 9.30am to 11am at Healing Royal British Legion.
Sessions are free and the course is aimed at girls in school years five, six and seven. The course will include six weeks of structured yet fun coaching sessions incorporating the fundamental skills of football, including dribbling, shooting, turning, passing, running with the ball and mini-games.
It is hoped that as a result of this course the club will be able to form a squad to enter the South Humber Girls League next season.
Councillor Geoff Lowis, portfolio holder for regeneration said: "This is yet another great opportunity for girls in North East Lincolnshire to take part in competitive sport fully supported by the council's sports development service."
