Enrolled Freemen of Grimsby

DAUGHTERS of the Enrolled Freemen of Grimsby are now eligible to be considered as Freeman due to a change in legislation.

Previously only sons of Enrolled Freeman were considered, but changes to the law by central government have given daughters the same entitlement. Also, the same law means that it no longer matters whether your parent was an Enrolled Freeman when you were born, although your parent must have been admitted as an Enrolled Freemen.

It also no longer matters where you were born. However, whether you are the son or daughter of an Enrolled Freemen, to be eligible to be admitted you must live in Grimsby.

Although the Enrolled Freemen are a separate organisation, the council currently processes applications for admission. If you think you may be eligible then contact any of the council's Customer Access Points or telephone (01472) 313131 during normal office hours and ask for an application form.

Alternatively, the application form is on the council’s website at www.nelincs.gov.uk/forms/form/1154560/

The form should be returned as soon as possible and to be considered for the 2010 Pastures Roll by September 14.
