Photography competition will pick a new front cover for North East Lincolnshire’s Visitor Guide 2011
NORTH East Lincolnshire Council and Visit Lincolnshire are launching a photography competition to find a new image for the cover of North East Lincolnshire’s visitor guide 2011.
The winning photo will be printed on 40,000 visitor guides and distributed all over the UK. The guide attracts visitors to North East Lincolnshire for short breaks boosting the current worth of the borough’s Visitor Economy, at £428 million (2008).
“Images are an essential part of the visitor guide and we have launched the competition to give residents and visitors the opportunity to show what they see as the most iconic images of the borough,” said Emma Tatlow, head of marketing at Visit Lincolnshire. “After all, who knows the most picturesque areas better than residents and visitors?
“The competition is open to everyone. Just take a photo of your favourite part of Cleethorpes and send it to us. It could be anything - from fun on the beach, nightlife to food and drink– anything that captures the essence of the North East Lincolnshire coast.”
The deadline for entries is 23 July. Photographs will be exhibited at the Discovery Centre, Cleethorpes for two weeks for people to view.
The winner will be picked shortly after the exhibition and will have the honour of their photograph being the front cover of the Visit Cleethorpes, Grimsby and the North Lincolnshire Wolds holiday guide 2011.
Councillor Pidgen, portfolio for culture, leisure and tourism, said: “The visitor guide acts as a one-stop-shop for visitors to the region. It provides information on attractions, accredited accommodation, events, dining out, night life and family fun activities.
“It helps to bring in thousands of visitors each year and is a handy and essential guide for people planning their holiday. It is therefore essential that we ensure the guide showcases the best of the borough and we are looking forward to receiving the entries.”
Other images entered in the competition may also be used inside the guide and on the website. The guide attracts visitors to Cleethorpes, Grimsby and the North East Lincolnshire Wolds for day visits and short breaks.
