Winning photo chosen for this year's waste and recycling Christmas card
A peaceful shot depicting Grimsby Minster in the snow has been chosen as the winning entry in North East Lincolnshire Council’s 2010 seasonal photography competition.
The winning entry, taken by Steven Maxson, will now be used by the council’s waste and recycling team as a Christmas card, containing essential waste and recycling information for the festive period.
Residents were invited to send in photos for the competition and Mr Maxson’s shot was chosen as the winner from more than 60 entries.
As the winner, Mr Maxson will be presented with a new camera, worth £100.
Every year the council issues a winter greetings card containing information about Christmas waste and recycling collections and opening times for the household waste recycling sites.
Councillor Peter Burgess, portfolio holder for the environment and the green agenda, said: “This is a beautiful photo and hopefully residents will very much enjoy it when they receive their copy of the card.
“I hope that the information inside can also be of use to people, telling them whether there will be a change to the waste and recycling collections over Christmas and where they can take all that extra wrapping paper and packaging that they are bound to be left with once the big day is over.”
The card will be sent out to residents between November 29 and December 22.
