Details about how local people can find an NHS dentist have recently dropped through residents’ letterboxes in North East Lincolnshire.
The leaflet, produced by North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus, provides residents with information about finding NHS dentists in the area who are accepting new patients.
Anyone seeking dental treatment with an NHS dentist is encouraged to do so by ringing the local dental helpline on (01472) 625220. The helpline is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Lynne Clarke, head of primary care commissioning for the Care Trust Plus, said: “I would encourage anyone who is seeking dental treatment with an NHS dentist to call the dental helpline and find out more about what’s available.
“Local residents can ring the dental helpline on (01472) 625220 and check out a check-up.”
The leaflet also explains that some people are exempt from paying any charges - NHS dental treatment is free if, when the treatment starts, you are:
- aged under 18
- aged under 19 and in full-time education
- pregnant, or a mother who's given birth in the last 12 months
- staying at an NHS hospital where your doctor is the hospital dentist
- receiving state benefits (ring the helpline for more details)
Those who are not exempt might still be eligible to get help with NHS dental costs (see the Job Centre Plus for more information). For adults who do pay for dental treatment, the standard cost for a check-up is £16.50.
Anyone who needs emergency treatment and does not have a dentist or their surgery is closed should ring 0845 120 0085, where they can receive advice on how to access emergency dental care.
