Feminist icon Germaine Greer is set to headline this year’s ‘Lit.Com’ literature and comedy festival, a celebration of the written and spoken word, taking place at venues across North East Lincolnshire throughout October.
The author and television personality will make an appearance at Cleethorpes’ Parkway Cinema on Wednesday October 6, to give a candid account of her career to date and answer questions from the audience.
The special event is among a jam-packed and exciting programme that is hot on the heels of the Edinburgh Festival and also incorporates the best in UK stand-up.
Sponsored by train company First Transpennine Express, Lit.Com is the biggest and most wide-ranging cultural festival to be held in the region, having grown from a weekend seven years ago to now cover the whole of October.
Its programme includes film events, live theatre from some of the UK’s top touring companies, writing workshops, a poetry festival, especially commissioned installations and exhibitions – many of which are free to attend, children’s events and educational but fun heritage trails.
UK comedians Reginald D.Hunter, Ross Noble, Armstrong and Miller and Stewart Francis feature on the varied programme.
Supported by North East Lincolnshire Council and Arts Council England Yorkshire, Lit.Com aims to bring high quality events to the area that are appealing, accessible and affordable to residents and visitors alike.
Councillor Pidgen, North East Lincolnshire Council's portfolio holder
for culture, leisure and tourism, said: "Lit.Com has become an
established cultural festival in North East Lincolnshire, going from strength to strength each year.
"Visitors are set to be entertained with the jam-packed line up of
comedians, professional theatre, guest talks and workshops. There really is something for everyone during North East Lincolnshire's annual celebration of literature and comedy.
