The North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus cancer collaborative are inviting residents to join them for a cuppa as they take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 2010 to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The coffee morning is taking place on Tuesday, October 5, at Alford’s Garden Centre, Laceby bypass, Grimsby, from 10.30am to 3pm.
The event will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, which helps improve the lives of people affected by cancer, both those living with cancer and also their families and carers.
The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support's biggest fundraising event. Last year 43,000 people registered to hold a coffee morning, raising £7.9million.
Julie Grimmer, cancer programme manager, said: “Every day 822 people in the UK are told they have cancer. This is news that not only turns their world upside down but also affects their family and friends.
“By simply getting together with friends and family over a cuppa, we aim to help Macmillan Cancer Support to fund more vital support services for people living with cancer.”
The event will also showcase the work of the cancer collaborative and the work it does in North East Lincolnshire to help raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer.
The cancer collaborative is always looking for enthusiastic new team members of all ages to help raise awareness among the general public. For further information about the collaborative, please ring Julie Grimmer or Martin Wakefield on (01472) 232261.
