Find out more at an open day event
FIND our about funding opportunities available for community projects in Cleethorpes’ Sidney Sussex ward at an open event on Thursday, April 19, from 4pm to 6.30pm at St Aidens Church and Community Centre.
Sidney Sussex Ward is one of six wards in North East Lincolnshire that has been awarded ‘Community First’ funding. The ward has been allocated £67,280 to be spent on tackling community priorities within the ward between now and 2015. Just over £28,000 of this funding is available over the next 12 months, of which £11,000 has to be allocated before June 30, 2012.
Applications for funding are therefore being invited from initiatives that seek to address one or more of the following community priorities:
- Improve existing facilities, activities and outreach work to benefit young people in the ward.
- Develop initiatives to improve the environment within the ward.
- Support resident groups within the ward to ensure they are sustainable and benefit local residents.
- Develop initiatives to reduce burglaries and fires in the home and tackle domestic violence.
- Develop initiatives to support the well being of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.
The priorities have been developed by a community panel that has representatives from the business community, YMCA, ward forum, ward councillors, Neighbourhood Watch, the council’s people services directorate and neighbourhood development services and churches.
Darren Linford, chair of Community First Panel, said: “This money has been provided, so that the residents of Sidney Sussex can get involved in tackling local priorities, and making the ward a safer, better place to live for everyone.”
Vince Kelly, chair of Clee Lincs Neighbourhood Forum, said: “This money will now enable local people to show that they are committed to improving their areas and interests even more.”
The panel will receive applications and make recommendations to the Community Development Foundation who are managing ‘Community First’ across the country, prior to decisions being finalised.
