Library services are celebrating the Olympics in many different ways.
LIBRARIES across North East Lincolnshire are celebrating an Olympic country each month in the lead up to the Olympic Games, to honour their global significance.
Willows Library will be celebrating all things Spanish in February. On-line language taster sessions are being held on Tuesday, February 21, 2pm to 3pm and 3pm to 4pm. People will be encouraged to find out more about Spain, its history, culture, cooking and language, through a collection of books and DVDs which includes novels set in Spain or by Spanish authors. All other libraries will celebrate the culture of a country between now and June.
Councillor Mick Burnett, portfolio holder for health, wellbeing, tourism and culture, said “Library services are celebrating the Olympics in many unique ways this year.
“The council is committed to developing learning amongst children, young people and adults, and these events are a fantastic way to learn about different cultures in this Olympic Year. I recommend people to go down to their local library and take part in the celebrations.”
There is also free on-line language taster sessions available with your library card. Call in at your local library, visit www.nelincs.gov.uk/resident/libraries-and-archives or telephone (01472) 323613 to book any of these on-line taster sessions.
