North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus is undertaking a review of the Community Equipment Service.
North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus (the CTP) is undertaking a review of the Community Equipment Service as a basis for planning the future shape of the service in North East Lincolnshire.
This service provides items of equipment that assist people with everyday tasks so that they can live independently. This includes large items such as beds, mattresses and hoists and it also includes simple items such as walking frames, walking sticks, commodes, raised toilet seats, chair raisers, kettle tippers, tap turners, sock aids and many others.
Some of the items are required to support people’s health, whilst other items assist people to live independently and remain in the safety and comfort of their own homes rather than requiring residential care.
A review conducted by Care Trust Plus professional staff has suggested a new service model that will provide improvements in the service including:
• A new resource centre
• A demonstration centre
• Weekend deliveries
• Evening deliveries
• More trained staff for quicker assessment
• Better recycling
• Needs based charging for equipment
The CTP is also undertaking consultation with the community on these plans and the results of this will be incorporated into the review.
